1. Vehicle and Trailer Check
Tires (truck and trailer) inflated and in good shape
Brake lights, turn signals, and trailer brakes working
Hitch and safety chains properly connected
Floorboards solid and mats in place
Ramp or doors latch securely
Fire extinguisher and spare tire on board
2. Required Documents
Copy of your commercial insurance
Coggins test (if required by state or destination)
Health certificate (for interstate travel)
Bill of lading or transport agreement
Emergency contacts and delivery instructions
3. Horse Prep and Gear
Halter and lead rope on the horse (plus extras in the truck)
Feed and hay for long trips
Water buckets and clean water supply
Shavings in the trailer if needed for comfort
Medications labeled and stored properly
Leg wraps or boots (if required by owner)
4. Owner Coordination
Confirm pickup time and location
Confirm delivery address and access instructions
Ask about loading behavior or medical issues
Verify contact numbers for pickup and delivery
Make sure payment details are agreed upon
5. Personal Prep
Valid driver’s license and medical card (if required)
Phone charged with backup charger
GPS or map with planned route
Snacks and water for you
Rested and alert before driving
